Welded Rail Clips
Glory Rail supplies high-performance welded rail clips designed for fixing heavy rails under demanding operating conditions. Our welded base rail clips provide strong lateral restraint, vibration resistance, and accurate rail alignment for crane rail systems, ports, steel plants, and industrial facilities.
Available models include W116, W120, W216, W220 and other customized solutions compatible with various rail profiles.
What Are Welded Rail Clips?
Welded rail clips are heavy-duty rail fastening components that secure rails directly onto supporting structures through welded bases.
Unlike bolted rail clips, welded rail clips do not require threaded holes or access underneath the rail support, making them especially suitable for areas with limited installation space.
The clip assembly usually consists of:
- Forged steel clip
- Weldable base
- Rubber block
- Bolt and locking components
The system maintains continuous clamping force while allowing controlled rail movement caused by thermal expansion and operational loads.
Welded Rail Clip Types and Specifications
Glory Rail provides a comprehensive range of welded rail clips designed for different rail profiles and load requirements. Our product range covers various sizes of rail fastening solutions for crane rails, industrial tracks, and heavy-duty rail systems.
The selection of welded rail clips is mainly based on rail size, wheel load, operating conditions, and installation requirements. In general, larger and heavier rails require stronger clips with higher clamping capacity to ensure stable rail positioning and reliable performance. Some clip models may still be widely used in existing rail systems or replacement projects, depending on the original installation design.

Glory Rail’s W116, W120, W216, and W220 welded rail clips are equivalent alternatives to commonly used 7116, 7120, 7216, and 7220 rail fastening models.
Different model names mainly represent specification variations and do not affect key performance such as load capacity and durability.
These clips can be directly integrated into existing rail systems without additional modifications.
Basic Components of Welded Rail Clips
Welded Rail Clip Assembly: Two-Part Design for Fast, Secure Installation
This weldable rail clip consists of two primary components:
A welded lower base (factory-mounted to steel support frames)
An adjustable upper assembly (field-installed via pre-tensioned bolts)
The lower base is permanently welded to the steel beam at the factory or machining shop — enabling rapid, tool-free installation of the upper component on-site.
Flange Nut: Made from high-strength alloy steel, matched to bolt grade. Features a self-locking thread design to prevent loosening under vibration. Secures all clip components to ensure structural integrity and system stability.
Upper Component (Steel Clip + Rubber Block)
Steel Clip: Provides rigid mechanical connection between the rail and clip assembly.
Rubber Block: Absorbs vibration, reduces noise, and prevents micro-movements that cause wear or fatigue.
Captive Bolt: The critical fastener securing the upper assembly to the welded base. Available in two strength grades to suit project requirements:
→ Class 8.8 (standard duty)
→ Class 10.8 (heavy-duty / high-impact applications)
Welded Base: The foundational element of the rail clip system — designed for direct welding to the rail web or base. Engineered from high-strength cast iron or stamped carbon steel, with a corrosion-resistant surface coating. Its monocoque (one-piece) construction ensures maximum load capacity and impact resistance
Key Features & Benefits
- Welded Fixation: Secured to rail supports via welding, no access required from below—simplifies installation in tight spaces.
- Self-Tightening Mechanism: Two main parts lock securely when tightened, ensuring consistent clamping force.
- Controlled Force: Special vulcanized rubber blocks apply steady pressure to rails, reducing wear and noise.
- Low Profile: Compatible with cranes fitted with guide rollers, avoiding operational interference.
- Versatility: Adapt to rails with or without pads, covering a wide range of rail weights and types.
- Proven Performance: Globally used for years in demanding environments, with reliable load resistance.
Corrosion-Resistant Coatings & Precision Machining
Crafted from weldable-grade steel, our clips feature corrosion-resistant treatments (e.g., galvanization) to withstand harsh conditions (humidity, chemicals). Precision machining ensures tight tolerances for components like forged steel clips and vulcanized rubber blocks, guaranteeing proper fit and long-term durability.
Maintenance Guidelines
- Regular Inspections: Check weld integrity quarterly for cracks or wear; ensure clips remain tight and rubber blocks are intact (replace if hardened or damaged).
- Re-tightening: Recheck bolt torque annually, especially after extreme temperature fluctuations or heavy load operations.
- Corrosion Checks: Inspect galvanized surfaces for damage; touch up with anti-corrosion paint if scratches occur to prevent rust.
- Rail Alignment: Use the clip’s horizontal adjustment (8-21mm) to correct minor rail shifts during maintenance—avoid over-adjusting to prevent excessive stress on welds.
