What Are Welded Rail Clips?

Welded rail clips are heavy-duty rail fastening components that secure rails directly onto supporting structures through welded bases.

Unlike bolted rail clips, welded rail clips do not require threaded holes or access underneath the rail support, making them especially suitable for areas with limited installation space.

The clip assembly usually consists of:

Different model names mainly represent specification variations and do not affect key performance such as load capacity and durability.

This weldable rail clip consists of two primary components:

 A welded lower base​ (factory-mounted to steel support frames)

An adjustable upper assembly​ (field-installed via pre-tensioned bolts)

The lower base is permanently welded to the steel beam at the factory or machining shop — enabling rapid, tool-free installation of the upper component on-site.

Flange Nut​: Made from high-strength alloy steel, matched to bolt grade. Features a self-locking thread design​ to prevent loosening under vibration. Secures all clip components to ensure structural integrity and system stability.

Upper Component (Steel Clip + Rubber Block)

  • Steel Clip: Provides rigid mechanical connection between the rail and clip assembly.

  • Rubber Block: Absorbs vibration, reduces noise, and prevents micro-movements that cause wear or fatigue.

Captive Bolt​: The critical fastener securing the upper assembly to the welded base. Available in two strength grades to suit project requirements:

Class 8.8​ (standard duty)
