Glory Rail Custom Processing Services

Designed according to DIN 536 A-series crane rails (A45, A55, A65, A75, A100, A120) are ideal for port cranes, overhead cranes, and heavy-duty conveyor systems. We offer tailored processing services to adapt each rail to your installation and project needs.

End machining: Rail ends are chamfered or precision-milled to improve joint fit and eliminate edge damage during wheel transition.

Curved rail forming: Cold or hot bending is applied under controlled stress conditions to achieve stable alignment for curved track sections.

Trolley rail preparation: Short rail sections and matching accessories are prepared for crane trolley systems used in port and heavy-duty handling applications.

Bevel cutting: Non-standard cutting angles, including 45° and project-specific geometries, are produced to suit complex installation layouts.

Surface protection treatment: Sandblasting, painting, or hot-dip galvanizing is applied to improve corrosion resistance in outdoor and marine environments.

Special end fabrication: Rail ends can be manufactured according to drawings for welded joints or custom structural connections.

With decades of engineering experience in rail manufacturing, Glory Rail focuses on delivering precision-engineered crane rail systems designed for demanding industrial applications. Operating under established DIN and EN specifications with ISO-certified quality management, we integrate controlled steel processing and in-process inspection to ensure consistent dimensional accuracy, mechanical performance, and long-term operational reliability.

DIN 536 A120 Rail System Solutions

Including Complete Rail Fastening Systems

  1. Crane Rail Clips: Custom-made for DIN 536 A120 rails, these high-strength clamps deliver superior vibration resistance. Ideal for gantry and overhead crane tracks, suitable for gauges ranging from 600mm to 1520mm.
  2. Rubber Pads: Shock-absorbent and anti-aging rubber pads reduce noise, cushion impact and protect rails for all crane applications.
  3. Steel Soleplates: High-quality steel soleplates provide rigid support, evenly spread loads and avoid structural deformation.
  4. Rail Aluminothermic Welding Kits: Complete aluminothermic welding kits for crane rail installation. It creates high-strength, fatigue-resistant rail joints via exothermic reaction. No complex power required, enabling fast on-site installation for heavy-duty crane rails.

DIN 536 A120 Rail Applications

Ports and Container Terminals

Running tracks for shore-based container cranes (STS) and rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMG). A120 is commonly selected for STS with lifting capacities of 65 t or more; its wide base effectively distributes wheel load, reducing the risk of fatigue in the terminal’s front-of-dock beam structures.

Steel Smelting and Foundry Workshops

Foundry cranes and charging cranes are used to transport ladles of molten steel or tanks of liquid metal, with single-wheel loads often exceeding 500 kN. After heat treatment, the surface hardness of A120 rail heads can reach HB 260–340, providing superior resistance to indentation compared to standard hot-rolled rails.

Shipyard Dry Docks

Large gantry cranes lift ship hull sections (weighing hundreds of tons each). Tracks are laid on the dry dock floor or on track beams; the wide flange and bending stiffness of A120 help reduce uneven settlement.

Hydropower and Heavy Industry Facilities

Heavy-duty overhead cranes in hydropower plant installation bays are used to hoist components such as generator rotors and turbine runners. The tracks must maintain high straightness even under low-frequency use; A120 is often used in conjunction with elastic pads and embedded bolts.

Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS)

For high-lift stacker cranes with heights exceeding 20 m, the ground tracks must withstand high-speed starts and stops (acceleration typically ≥0.5 m/s²). The wear resistance and lateral stability of A120 meet the requirements for a long service life.

Temporary Heavy-Duty Construction Tracks

Used for temporary travel paths for heavy-duty tower cranes or gantry cranes at construction sites for dams, bridges, or super-high-rise steel structures. Track connections are primarily welded, with section lengths generally set at 12 m.

Why Choose A120 for Heavy Wheel Loads?

1. Geometric Advantages

  • Wide base design: A base width of 220 mm combined with a height of just 105 mm creates a “short and wide” cross-section.
  • Low center of gravity for roll resistance: Compared to traditional railway rails, this design significantly enhances resistance to lateral overturning.
  • 72mm-thick web: Provides exceptional shear and bending resistance

2. Load Distribution Mechanism

  • 100 kg/m mass: The track itself acts as a structural beam to distribute loads, preventing concentrated stress damage to the foundation
  • 120mm rail head width: Provides a wide wheel contact surface, significantly reducing Hertzian contact stress
  • Lateral Stability: A 220mm-wide base resists the massive horizontal thrust generated during crane acceleration and deceleration

3. Material Properties

  • Multiple Grade Options: S700/S900/S1100 (or 50Mn/900A/U71Mn), tensile strength ≥880 N/mm²
  • Wear Resistance: The S900 grade offers higher surface hardness than S700, making it suitable for high-frequency applications
  • Dynamic Impact Absorption: A mass of 100 kg/m effectively absorbs dynamic impacts, maintaining rail alignment

4. Application Scenarios

The A120 is specifically designed for operating conditions that exceed the limits of the A100:

  • Quay cranes at container terminals handling loads of hundreds of tons
  • Continuous heavy-load cycles in heavy manufacturing workshops
  • High-frequency operations at bulk cargo handling facilities
